Writing Workshops

I’ve given writing workshops all over the U.K. and online. Many of my workshop participants have then achieved the next step in their writing career by having books published, plays optioned, and film scripts produced.

My current workshops

  • At Nottingham Playhouse: Writers Room – weekly writing workshop on Thursdays (6pm-7.30pm) that will be running from September to December
  • At Nottingham Playhouse: Encore readers workshops – Like a book club for scripts! Come and read them with us. 50+ 2 sessions available. Wednesdays at 10.30am and 1pm
  • At Writers Retreat UK: I give writing workshops and mentor at the writing retreats here.
  • Monthly online writing workshops – 40 min long monthly online creative writing masterclass. From £10. Entertaining and informative. Places limited. Email me for the schedule.
  • Monthly Nottingham writing workshops – 3 hour in person meet up. Advanced writing workshop and one to one mentoring time. Make likeminded friends locally. £30
  • One to one online writing mentoring – This isn’t a workshop, but rather a chance to make your individual novel / script as compelling as possible.

Past writing workshops

I have been giving creative writing workshops at respected educational institutions for the past 7 years, including the University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University, the Nottingham Playhouse theatre and The Actors Workshop Nottingham. I also provide writing workshops for corporate team building events and writers retreats.

The aim of each workshop is to be fun, engaging, educational and collaborative; involving thrilling creative problem solving techniques as a group and individually.

Screenwriting workshops for film students and creative writing students

University students studying creative writing can benefit immensely from a professional screenwriter giving a screenwriting workshop. The experience of having a professional screenwriter give a hands-on workshop is invaluable in helping students hone their craft and build their confidence in their writing. The workshop also allows students to gain insight into the world of screenwriting and learn the craft from an experienced professional.

Through the workshop, students can explore the fundamentals of storytelling, develop their own style, and gain insight into the process of creating a script from start to finish. With the guidance of a professional screenwriter, students can learn the elements of good storytelling, how to structure a story, how to use dialogue effectively, and how to craft a compelling narrative. Overall, the workshop provides students with the tools and knowledge to become successful screenwriters.

Play writing workshops

Writing can be a great way to express yourself and your creativity, but for many, the prospect of creating a play can be daunting. Public play writing workshops are an excellent way for individuals to explore their writing talents and have an impact on their local community. These workshops bring people together to create something meaningful and foster an appreciation for the written word.

Put simply, it can help a team come up with new ideas, and a new way of thinking, that will put them one step ahead of your competitors.
